Hotel Near Baseball Hall of Fame A Home Run For ALC, Rural New York

Welcome back to the Build Your Dream blog.

Are you a baseball fan? Even casual fans have heard of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Helping the Community

As is often the case when there is a big attraction, surrounding areas help provide the infrastructure necessary for support. Cooperstown is actually a fairly small town in middle New York, so that’s definitely the case with the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Just down the road is a town called Hartwick. The community is characterized by single-family homes, farmland, recreational sports fields and small commercial plazas.
Rural area in New York? Indeed. The middle of the state is full of farms and towns like Hartwick, home to less than 20,000 people.

National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

The Patel family, who have been the proud owners and operators of the Quality Inn Oneonta since 2016, are excited to announce their decision to develop the Hampton Inn by Hilton Cooperstown in the same market. This project has been made possible with the instrumental financial support of the American Lending Center.

The tourism economy so important to the area is finally back to 2019 performance levels after the crash caused by the COVID pandemic, according to the February 2023 CBRE Hotel Horizons report. The timing is right.

Modern Amenities

This new four-story hotel boasts 96 rooms, an indoor pool and whirlpool, a fitness center, two meeting rooms and a breakfast dining area. It meets all the Hampton by Hilton standards, with mini-fridges, microwaves and flat-screen TVs in each room.

State Highway 28 runs by the hotel’s parking lot, offering a straight shot to Cooperstown and its attractions. The Baseball Hall of Fame is less than four miles away!
Stay at the Hampton by Hilton Cooperstown and the bat used by Babe Ruth to hit his last home run is just minutes away. The uniform Hank Aaron wore when he broke the Babe’s home run record is in the next room.

That Hall of Fame attracts from 275,000 to 400,000 visitors a year on its own. There is a vibrant tourism economy in the area that includes other museums, attractions and beautiful countryside.

Good Business for All

Creating jobs and economic opportunities are central to the ALC mission, and this project fulfills those goals. According to the economic impact analysis, 92 jobs were created during the construction and development phase. Another 14 permanent jobs were created to operate the hotel.

Then there are the jobs and companies supporting the hotel operation. This size of business makes a difference in the economy of small towns like Hartwick.

I see it as another example of the teamwork exemplified by the Hall of Fame. On the third floor of the Hall, there’s a room displaying every World Championship ring, stretching back to 1922. Sure, the superstars enshrined at the Hall of Fame were on many of those teams, but it took the entire team to win the ring.

Conclusion

We were pleased to participate in the recent ribbon cutting to officially open the Hampton Inn by Hilton Cooperstown. Representing ALC at the event were Ms. Emily Wang and Mr. David Bales. The hotel will be an asset to the community, and a gateway to baseball history.
